Your spending breakdown

Updated on 18 June 2026

Understand where your money really goes with a breakdown of your expenses by category.

Knowing how much you spend is good. Knowing where your money goes is what truly changes your decisions. The spending breakdown categorizes your outgoings to reveal your real expense items. This page explains how to read it and how to refine it.

What this chart is for

On your dashboard, the spending breakdown groups all your outgoings by category for the selected period. At a glance, you can see which items weigh the most and which are under control. This is the starting point for deciding where to take action.

How to read the breakdown

Each segment represents a spending category, and its size reflects its weight in your budget. The larger a category is, the more of your money it consumes over the period. You can change the period at the top of the dashboard to compare a busy month to a quiet one.

Category taxonomy

Noryo automatically classifies your transactions into a category taxonomy: housing, transport, food, leisure, health, and many others. This classification directly feeds into the breakdown. The better your transactions are categorized, the more accurately the breakdown reflects your reality.

 • Housing (rent, charges, energy).
 • Transport (fuel, public transport, maintenance).
 • Food (groceries, restaurants).
 • Leisure, health, subscriptions, and other categories too.

Correcting a misclassified category

If a transaction falls into the wrong category, your breakdown will be distorted. You can recategorize a transaction from its details. Even better, create a rule like all payments from this merchant so that future similar payments are automatically classified.

From analysis to action

Once you’ve identified your spending items, turn observation into decision. The category that exceeds your expectations is the best candidate for a budget: set a limit, and Noryo will alert you before you overspend.

Going further

The breakdown tells you where your money goes. The cash flow tells you if enough is coming in. The two complement each other for a complete picture.
