Categorize a transaction

Updated on 18 June 2026

Recategorize a transaction, add a note and attach a document, then turn your choice into a rule for the future.

Properly organizing a transaction takes a few seconds and keeps your analyses accurate. This guide shows you how to recategorize a transaction, add a note, attach a document, and then create a rule so that your future transactions from the same merchant are automatically classified.

  1. Open the transaction detail

Tap or click the transaction to show its detail.

  2. Change the category

Select the category that fits the expense. The change is taken into account in your analyses immediately.

  3. Add a note

Jot down a useful detail (the context, a participant, a reminder) to find your way later.

  4. Link a document

Attach a receipt, for example an invoice or a ticket, to keep it with the transaction.

  5. Create a rule if needed

If this merchant comes back often, ask for this choice to apply to all of its future payments.

Adding a cash expense

A cash or off-bank payment does not appear automatically. Add it manually, then assign it a category like any other transaction to keep your tracking complete.
