Automatic categorization, recategorization, merchant rules, and transactions to classify: your questions about categories.
Everything you need to know about how Noryo organizes your expenses, in a few answers.
How does Noryo choose the category for a transaction?
When a transaction arrives, Noryo identifies the merchant and the type of transaction to automatically suggest the most likely category. Most of your expenses are therefore categorized upon arrival.
Can I change a category?
Yes, at any time. Open the transaction details and choose another category. The change is immediately reflected in your charts and budgets.
What is the "To Categorize" filter?
It groups transactions for which Noryo could not determine the category with certainty. Processing them regularly keeps your analyses accurate.
How can I avoid constantly recategorizing the same merchant?
Create a rule such as all payments from this merchant go into this category. It will automatically apply to your future transactions from this merchant.
Does a rule apply to my past transactions?
A rule applies to future transactions. For past transactions, recategorize them directly from their details.
Are categories used for anything else?
Yes. Budgets are set by category, and the breakdown of your expenses by category feeds your charts and your Noryo Score. Good classification makes everything else more useful.
Can Nory assistant recategorize for me?
Nory can suggest recategorizing transactions. As with all its actions, the change is only applied after your confirmation.
