Track your cash spending
Updated on 18 June 2026
Your cash payments do not show on your statements: here is how to record them for a complete view of your budget.
A coffee paid in change, a Sunday market, a tip: cash spending leaves no trace on your bank statements. As a result, it escapes automatic tracking. By entering it by hand in Noryo, you regain a faithful picture of your budget, with no blind spot.
Record a cash expense
Open the manual expense form
From your transactions, choose to add a manual expense (for an expense paid off-bank, in cash for example).
Enter the amount and date
Indicate the amount spent and the date it took place.
Describe the expense
Give a clear label (for example Market or Coffee) so you recognise it later.
Choose the category
Attach the expense to the right category: this is what lets it count towards the matching budget.
Save
Confirm. The expense joins your list and is taken into account in your analyses like the others.
A good habit: the cash withdrawal
When you withdraw money from a cash machine, the withdrawal appears on your statement, but not how you spend it afterwards. Two approaches are possible: either you record each cash expense as you go, or you treat the withdrawal as an envelope that you break down later. Choose the method that takes the least effort, the important thing is to stick with it.
Keep your receipts
For a significant cash expense, you can link a receipt to the transaction. On iPhone, document scanning digitises a receipt in a few seconds, and the receipt stays attached to the expense in your vault.
By getting into the habit of entering your cash spending, you close the last blind spot in your tracking and your budgets become truly reliable.
