Understanding your savings
How Noryo calculates and displays your savings, your savings rate, and how to track your goals over the months.
Savings are one of the most telling signals of your financial health: it’s what remains after your expenses. Noryo highlights this indicator on your dashboard and links it to your goals. Here’s how to understand and use it.
What your savings represent
Simply put, your monthly savings correspond to the difference between what comes in and what goes out over the period. It’s your ability to set money aside. On the dashboard, it appears as a dedicated indicator, along with its trend.
A few useful concepts
- Savings this month
- What you managed to keep after your spending in the current month.
- Savings rate
- The share of your income that you manage to save, expressed as a percentage. The higher it is, the larger your safety margin grows.
- Savings goal
- A target you set (a project, a safety cushion) that you build up over time.
Noryo measures your savings based on your transactions. It never moves money or opens any account: access to your banks is read-only.
The savings rate and the Noryo Score
The savings rate is one of the dimensions that feed your Noryo Score, the financial health rating out of 100. A steady and positive rate boosts the score. Tracking your savings therefore also directly impacts your score.
Linking savings to your goals
A savings goal gives a concrete direction to your effort. You assign it a name, an icon, a target amount, and, if you wish, a deadline. Quick-add buttons let you contribute to it, and a simulator estimates the achievement date based on your current pace.
Measure
Look at your savings and your savings rate on the dashboard.
Set a target
Create a goal with a target amount and an optional deadline.
Top up
Use quick add to move the goal forward.
Track
Let the simulator estimate the completion date and adjust your pace.
A small amount saved each month often weighs more, over time, than a large one-off effort. Consistency increases your savings rate and your score.
Why my savings vary from month to month
- An exceptional expense (a holiday, a major purchase) reduces savings for the month, which is not a cause for concern.
- Irregular income (a bonus, a refund) temporarily inflates savings.
- Pending operations can shift the calculation for a while, until the bank confirms them.
- A cash expense you have not recorded does not appear until you add it manually.
Limitations to keep in mind
The displayed savings reflect what Noryo sees from your connected accounts. If not all your accounts are linked, or if some expenses are made outside banking, the measurement may be partial. Connecting your main accounts and adding manual expenses makes the figure more accurate.
Frequently asked questions
Can I track several goals at the same time?
The number of goals depends on your plan. The base plan allows one, higher plans allow several or an unlimited number. See the Subscription screen in the app for details.
Is the goal simulator a guarantee?
No, it is an estimate based on your recent pace. It is a reference point to help you plan ahead, not a commitment.
