How Nory understands your finances

Nory draws on your accounts, your categories and your goals to answer you in a personalised way. Here is what it relies on, and what it never does.

Updated 19 June 2026

If Nory answers you with such precision, it is because it relies on your real situation rather than on generalities. This article explains what information it draws on, how it turns that into useful answers, and above all what it never does with your data.

The information Nory relies on

Nory reads your situation as it appears in the app: your connected accounts, your transactions and their categories, your budgets, your savings goals and, depending on your plan, your Noryo Score or your net worth. It is this overall view that lets it answer your situation rather than an abstract average.

  • Your connected accounts and their balances
  • Your transactions, their categories and your categorisation rules
  • Your budgets and the tracking of the related spending
  • Your savings goals and their progress
  • Your detected recurring subscriptions
  • Depending on your plan, your Noryo Score and your net worth

From your data to a useful answer

When you ask a question, Nory gathers the elements relevant to the topic, connects them, then phrases an answer in plain language. If you ask about your restaurant outings, it looks at the matching category over the relevant period; if you talk about saving, it focuses on your goals and your pace of setting money aside.

Always in the context of the moment

Nory reasons over the period and the accounts you are looking at. Specify "last month" or "on my current account" to frame the answer even more.

Memory, so it does not repeat itself

Over the course of your exchanges, Nory can keep a few useful pieces of context, for example a preference you have expressed. This memory stays limited, viewable and erasable at any time from its settings. It only serves to avoid asking you the same questions again.

What Nory never does

The limits set by design

No banking operation
Nory never accesses your payment methods and cannot trigger any transfer or direct debit. The connection to your banks is read only.
No regulated advice
Nory helps you see clearly, but does not replace an adviser. Its analyses are reference points, not investment recommendations.
No action without your agreement
Any proposed action (create a budget, recategorise) waits for your confirmation. Nothing happens behind your back.

Why answers can change

Your data is alive: a new sync, a recategorised transaction or an adjusted budget can change Nory's answer from one day to the next. This is normal and rather reassuring: it means it follows your situation as closely as possible.

Give it something to work with

The better your transactions are categorised and your goals filled in, the sharper Nory's answers. A few minutes of tidying up quickly pay off.

Personalisation activeOperational

Nory adapts automatically to your situation, without any particular setting on your part.
