I no longer have access to my email address

Regain access to your account by replacing, in three steps, the email address you can no longer reach.

Updated 26 August 2026

Losing access to your inbox does not lock you out. Noryo lets you replace this sign-in method with a new address, provided you prove the account is really yours. Here is how.

Recovery in three steps

The process always follows the same order. You do not just reset a password: you replace the lost factor with a new one.

  1. Identify: enter the old email address (or phone number) linked to the account.
  2. Prove it is really you, using one of the methods below.
  3. Replace the lost factor with your new email address.

Proving it is you

Depending on what is set up on your account, several methods are available:

  • a backup code, generated ahead of time and single-use;
  • approval from another device already signed in to the account: a request is sent to it, and your approval signs a proof with the device's secure key. A device that has been revoked, lost, or whose key was removed cannot approve;
  • a passkey, which authenticates you directly;
  • your password, only if the account has no other strong method.

On a device already linked to your account, Face ID (or the Noryo Code as a fallback) unlocks that device's key: it is a presence layer added to owning the device, never a proof on its own. On an unknown device, Face ID grants no recovery access.

No backup code? That is not a dead end: choosing "I don't have a backup code" simply opens the other available methods.

If no automatic method works

As a last resort, you can open an exceptional recovery request. It never grants access automatically: it opens a case, verified by your trusted contacts (agreement from 2 of them) and subject to a mandatory 72-hour security delay.

The account holder is notified as soon as the request is opened and gets a "This wasn't me" link that freezes it permanently. Support has no magic button: no one can bypass these checks.

Noryo will never ask you for your password, a code received by SMS or email, or a backup code, whether by email, phone, chat, or message. Codes are only entered in the Noryo app.

Once recovery succeeds, all your current sessions are signed out: sign in again with your new factor. The old address can no longer be used to sign in or identify you, and a security event is logged and notified.
