Expiration reminders and validity badges
Never let an ID or a contract expire without knowing it again: the validity badges show what is verified, what is expiring soon, and what has expired.
An expired ID card discovered the day before a trip, an out-of-date insurance certificate: these unpleasant surprises are easy to avoid. The vault shows validity badges on your documents to show you, at a glance, what is up to date and what needs your attention.
The three validity badges
Each document with an end date can display one of these badges. The color and the label tell you immediately where you stand.
What each badge means
- Verified
- The document is valid and needs no action from you for now.
- Expiring soon
- The end date is approaching. This is the right time to plan a renewal.
- Expired
- The document has passed its validity date. Remember to replace it with an up-to-date version.
Which documents are concerned
The badges are especially useful for documents that have a limited lifespan.
- ID papers: card, passport, license, residence permit.
- Insurance certificates valid for a given period.
- Contracts reaching their term or due for renewal.
- Documents valid for a limited time, such as certain proofs of address.
For a document to be tracked, enter its expiration date when you add it or from its details. Without this date, the vault cannot warn you.
How to respond to a badge
Spot the flagged document
The orange Expiring soon or red Expired badge catches the eye in the list.
Start the renewal
Begin the process with the relevant organization, for example renewing an ID document.
Add the new version
Once the document is renewed, deposit it in the vault and enter its new end date.
Remove the old version
Once the up-to-date version is in place, you can remove the expired one to keep your vault clear.
Plan ahead rather than scramble
A well-kept vault saves you time and spares you last-minute errands. Get into the habit of glancing at the badges each month, for example when you check your dashboard. The Expiring soon documents are the ones to handle first.
The badges are a visual aid to help you organize. They do not start any automatic process on your behalf: renewal remains your responsibility, with the relevant organization.
Questions about the badges
Can I change an expiration date afterward?
Yes. Open the document details and update the date. The badge recalculates accordingly.
Does a document without a date show a badge?
No. Without an end date entered, the document is not tracked for expiration, which is normal for most permanent papers.
