Understanding the details of a transaction
Everything you find when you open a transaction: category, note, merchant, linked document, and possible actions.
Each line in your transaction list holds more than just an amount and a date. By opening a transaction, you access its detailed record: this is where you correct a category, add context, or attach a receipt. This article reviews everything you find there and what you can do with it.
Opening the details of a transaction
From your transaction list, tap (on iPhone, iPad) or click (on the web) the line you're interested in. The record opens with all the known information about the transaction. You can close it at any time; any changes are saved automatically.
Displayed information
The record combines elements provided by your bank and those you add yourself. Here are the main fields you will encounter.
A transaction's fields
- Merchant
- The name of the shop or organisation, as recognised from the bank label.
- Amount
- The transaction's sum, positive for money coming in, negative for an expense.
- Date
- The transaction's date as reported by your bank.
- Account
- The bank account on which the transaction was recorded.
- Category
- The spending or income heading the transaction is attached to. You can change it.
- Note
- A free comment you add to remember the context.
- Linked document
- A receipt (invoice, receipt) that you attach from your vault.
Changing the category
The suggested category is an automatic estimate. If it doesn’t suit you, open the category selector from the record and choose the appropriate one. The change is immediately reflected in your analyses and budgets.
When recategorizing, Noryo may suggest creating a rule that will apply this choice to all future payments from the same merchant. A valuable time-saver for recurring expenses.
Adding a note and a receipt
The note is a free space: for example, specify the reason for a purchase, the name of a guest at a restaurant, or a file number. The linked document attaches an invoice or receipt stored in your vault, ensuring the receipt is always one step away from the relevant transaction.
Modifying a category, note, or document only affects your tracking in Noryo. No information is sent back to your bank, and no money movement can be triggered: access to your accounts remains strictly read-only.
Available actions
- Recategorise the transaction in a few seconds.
- Create a rule to automate the sorting of the merchant's next payments.
- Add or edit a context note.
- Link a receipt stored in your vault.
- Spot whether the transaction is marked as recurring or flagged as an anomaly.

Frequently asked questions about the detail
Why is the merchant name sometimes strange?
The label comes straight from your bank and can contain codes or abbreviations. You can add a note to find your way, and the category stays editable.
Can I delete a transaction from my bank?
No, synced transactions faithfully reflect your statements and cannot be deleted. You can, however, delete a manual expense you added yourself.
Are my changes synced across my devices?
Yes, a category, a note or a document added on one device appears on all the others once the sync is done.
If a transaction seems missing or your balance differs slightly, it is often due to transactions still pending on the bank's side. They will appear once validated.
By carefully categorizing, adding notes, and attaching receipts to your important transactions, you get more accurate analyses and a ready-to-use record when needed.
